New York Fashion Week Spring 2016 Plus Size Models

"It definitely will not be boring," Heidi Klum promised when opening the Project Runway Finale Show last Friday September 11th. New York Fashion Week witnessed a historic moment for fashion as one of the finalist of ''Project Runway Season 14'' debuted a plus-size collection for the very first time ever during Fashion Week.

The full-figured models confidently strutted down the ramp wearing cropped tops, high-waist shorts, and flirty dresses. Pretty pastels, floral patterns, and dainty lace were apparent in the designs. The show received many positive reviews from the audience, including judges Heidi Klum, Nina Garcia, Zac Posen, and celebrity guest judge Carrie Underwood. Zac Posen told the Daily News: "It's a big moment for not only the runway, but New York Fashion Week."

Liris Crosse, one of the models who walked the runway, announced on her website: "Well, I can finally let my secret out!!! For the first time ever, Project Runway is having plus models walk in their designer finale runway show and I'm one of them!! I'm so thankful to be a part of this historic moment especially since it's going to be at the official New York Fashion Week tents. I'm praying that this helps opens more doors for plus models on the major fashion runways at NYFW & around the world,"

Since Project Runway is still filming, and has not revealed who the final designers are that showed at New York Fashion Week, there has been much speculation that plus size designer Ashley Neil Tipton may be one of the final designers. But whether she is or not, this is such a great moment in fashion and for the plus size community. I am hoping for a time where seeing plus size models at NYFW will become the norm, because beautiful comes in all sizes!
